Rehabilitation Of Adult Orphans

REHBIlITATION OF ADULT ORPHANS

The situation of inmates of orphan care centres when they reach adulthood is an invisible crisis. Once they leave their centres, they are left to fend for themselves without adequate education, employable skills, identity documents, names of parents, or a shelter over their heads.

VAGF has purchased land in Pune district, Maharashtra and begun construction of a residential centre that will include education and vocational training with a capacity to accommodate up to 800 (400 girls & 400 boys), beneficiaries and give them a chance at a real future and a real life, and more importantly, to imbibe self-worth and self-confidence. VAGCF has collaborated with Ekta Niradhar Sangh, an NGO with experience in providing support for higher education/vocational training to these disadvantaged adults as well as providing career guidance, counselling and resources for further education.

Interactive Spaces These will comprise amphitheatres and informal spaces where people from various industries will interact with the beneficiaries and provide exposure to the outside competitive world. The Foundation is also actively reaching out to the industries in the vicinity to align its vocational training programmes with employability and facilitate smoother transition of its beneficiaries to financial independence. Construction work as well as onboarding teachers and support staff is in full swing and the facility aims to be operational by 2023.
